About Us

The Department of Computer Science at Dhenkanal Autonomous College was established in the year 2000 with a vision to become a center of excellence in Computer Science education. Initially offering a three-year Bachelor's degree program in computer science [B.Sc. (CS)], the department has since expanded its offerings to include a Postgraduate (PG) course [M.Sc.(CS)], reflecting its commitment to providing comprehensive education in the field.

The department's undergraduate program has a commendable strength of 32 students, indicative of its popularity and reputation among aspiring computer science professionals. With a focus on delivering a rigorous curriculum encompassing both theoretical foundations and practical applications, the UG course equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the rapidly evolving technology landscape. In response to the growing demand for specialized education in computer science, the department introduced a PG course in the academic year 2023-24, with an initial cohort of 16 students.

At the heart of the department's success are its dedicated faculty members, comprising two regular assistant professors, one programmer, and three guest faculty members. Drawing upon their rich academic backgrounds and industry experience, the faculty play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and professional growth of students.

To facilitate hands-on learning and practical skill development, the department boasts two state-of-the-art computer laboratories equipped with 27 high-performance Desktop Computers and a powerful workstation server. This infrastructure enables students to engage in programming, software development, and experimentation under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

Complementing its academic resources, the department also maintains a well-curated seminar library stocked with the latest books in the field of computer science. This resource serves as a valuable repository of knowledge, enabling students to explore emerging trends and broaden their understanding of key concepts and technologies.

One of the hallmarks of the department is its proactive approach to fostering intellectual engagement and professional development among students. To this end, the department regularly organizes seminars, webinars, and workshops at both the state and national levels, inviting esteemed professors and industry experts from across India to share their insights and expertise. Furthermore, the department provides a platform for students to showcase their talents and stay updated with the latest trends in technology through student-led seminars and presentations.

In addition to academic and technical support, the department is committed to guiding students through personalized counseling sessions and career guidance programs which help students to make decisions and pursue opportunities aligned with their interests and aspirations.
