About Us

The Department of English has a tradition of excellence. As an important department of the humanities with an intake capacity of 16 per year, it attracts bright students to its honours programme who not only excel in examinations, but also imbibe human qualities through their exposure to the realm of literature. Regular holding of seminar, interspersed with extra-mural lectures helps the students broaden their horizons. Further, the department engages in inter-disciplinary activities by allying with other departments. It has a Language Lab with state-of-the-art-technology to hone the students' communication skills. It has also a standard seminar library with advanced reference materials and journals. Apart from study, the students also engage themselves in various extension activities as a part of their social responsibility. They are impelled to join such institutions like NCC, NSS and YRC to fulfill this commitment. It is this holistic development of the students that the department continues to accentuate.

There are plans for infrastructural up-gradation and automating the Department with ICT soon. The Department looks forward to exciting possibilities.
