About Us

The department of History was established in the year 1979. The department offers graduate/post-graduate course in history and is most sought after department in the college. The course of studies covers, World History. Indian History, International affairs, World Civilization, Odisha History and Historiography. To enhance student learning, regular lectures are supplemented with guest lectures, seminars, debates, field trips, student paper presentation and research projects. The mission of the Department of History is to approach the subject matter of History in ways that aid the students understanding of oneself and the other. The department seeks to achieve excellence in teaching, learning and research. As the scope and application of History increase every day, the department strives to prepare future professionals who will deal with the emerging socio-historical realities. The department seeks to provide an enlightening environment in which students and teachers can discuss social, educational, historical and personal issues in a friendly manner.
