About Us

The department of Psychology offers undergraduate and post-graduate course in psychology and is most sought after department in the college. Psychology was initially introduced as a subject in the college in year 1983 and Honours teaching started in 1992.

In 2022, Masters in Psychology introduced. The course of studies covers General, Abnormal, Educational, Social, Developmental, Cognitive, Organisational, Counselling and guidance, Statistics, and Positive Psychology. To enhance student learning, regular lectures are supplemented with guest lectures, seminars, debates, films, videos, field trips, student paper presentation and research projects. As a leading department of the college, the department conducts regular seminar, webinar, workshop and conference every year. Eminent professors from University and research institutes are invited to deliver talks on socio-psychological issues, mental health and other issues relevant in both global and local context. The eminent psychologists are remembered in their birthdays and their contribution to the field of Psychology is discussed.

The mission of the Department of Psychology is to approach the subject matter of psychology in ways that aid the students understanding of oneself and the other. The department seeks to achieve excellence in teaching, learning and research. As the scope and application of psychology increasing every day, the department strives to prepare future professionals who will deal with the emerging socio-psychological realities. With an excellent academic ambience, marvellous natural environment, techno-savvy student-teacher community, tremendous support from college and local administration, the department aims to build up human resources who will apply the knowledge of psychology to deal with emerging research areas, mental health and counselling needs of people. The department is well equipped and seeks to provide an enlightening environment in which students and teachers can discuss social, educational, psychological issues in a gracious manner.

About Smart Class rooms (within 100 words)

The department is equipped with modern ICT tools like laptops, desktop computers, overhead projector, pentab, etc. Moreover due to wifi connectivity we are able to show youtube videos, PG Pathsala, SWAYAM, NPTEL and other online resources, useful sites necessary for better learning. Psychological movies, TED talks are also shown to boost their learning experiences.
